To become a successful scholar and lifelong learner, it is important to shape the minds of the young adults. With the name Scholastic Mind & Education, our team focuses on motivating and inspiring the students, as well as bringing excellent results in their IGCSE academic journey.

Established in 2021

SME was founded in 2021 by a team of passionate and experienced educators to provide an engaging learning experience at an affordable price. Our team is mixed with a group of successful University students who achieved A/A*s in their IGCSE, and qualified teachers who are currently working at schools.

Aye Chan Oo
​Founder/ Science & English Teacher

Teacher Aye Chan is a compassionate educator, who challenges the students to think beyond the books. She is a Dean's List student at University of Technology Sydney, who has achieved five scholarships for obtaining the highest GPA in her cohort. She finished her IGCSE in 2017 with 5As/A*s and she was awarded with "Excellence Pearson Award". For the past 5 years, she has been teaching and mentoring students in Myanmar, United States, Australia and Singapore. During her gap years from University, she also worked as an English teacher at a Cambridge International School. While pursuing Bachelor of Medical Science at UTS, she is also designing Science curriculum for an Australian education centre.

Ricky Chan
Co-Founder/ Head of Communications 

Mr. Ricky completed his high school at Trinity Grammar School in Sydney, Australia with an International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma and achieved the headmaster’s academic citation. He is currently pursuing Bachelor of Aviation (Management) at the University of New South Wales. With the experience he obtained from leading Human Resources department in 2020 UNSW ASEAN Conference, and managing his private business, he will be working as the Head of Communications at SME.

Patrick Min
Co-Founder/ Mathematics Teacher

Teacher Patrick completed IGCSE O-Levels with 10 subjects of both EdExcel and CIE including 5 Mathematics Subjects with (A*)s. Scoring 800/800 in both SAT 1 & SAT 2 Mathematics, he was selected as one among the 5 students in Myanmar to receive a scholarship by UNSW in Sydney, Australia. He has been tutoring and mentoring students for 5 years with a scope of IGCSE, A-Levels, SAT, AP, IB, etc and, part-time teaching Australian HSC/ Foundation studies at colleges in Australia. 

Rene Everton
English Teacher

Teacher Rene is a qualified teacher, who finished her studies at the University of Southern Queensland, Australia. 
Having taught English across a range of academic levels, in a variety of academic settings, her pedagogical philosophy is based on the principle that a good teacher believes in the ideas that he/she teaches and moreover believes in the students with whom the ideas are shared. 
Her overall goal, is to create a safe, student-centred learning environment – one which facilitates for all types of learners - as active participants.

​Rachel Tram
Business Teacher
Teacher Rachel completing Bachelor of Commerce, majoring in Marketing and Finance at UTS. She possess solid knowledge in Business general through achieving scholarship for graduating with the highest result at UTS College and IGCSE Business. She is passionate about supporting and guiding students in the development of Business knowledge and skills. It is her goal to ensure that business students achieve excellent academic performance.

​Min Thuta
Mathematics & Physics Teacher
Teacher Thuta is an enthusiastic tutor, who takes joy in sharing knowledge with his students. Having completed IGCSE Edexcel in 2019 with 7A*s, he is currently finishing his A level studies. He has recently achieved 4As for his As Level. With two years of tutoring students under his belt, Teacher Thuta is a well organised teacher who helps his students thrive for their best.

​Teacher Catherine/Copper
Performing Arts
Teacher Copper has dedicated her life in service to performing arts. Like everybody else, dancing ballet started as a weekend activity in her hometown back in Philippines. Upon entering High School, she passed full scholarship at the Philippine High school for the Arts as a Dance major in Ballet. In College, she also decided to pursue Dance Major in ballet at the College of Music, University of the Philippines Dance Company. She has been working as a full-time ballet dance teacher since 2016.
